Craving Something Sweet? Try The Yum Yum Cupcake Truck!

Even though Orlando Food Truck Bazaar debuted in March of this year; I caught the Food Truck Bug only recently. I chose Lake Nona Food Truck Bazaar as my virgin endeavor since they had 19 food trucks attending; I do relish my variety.

Little did I know that the extensive assortment could hardly be experienced in one visit, not to mention my poor stomach? There is only so much a poor gal can eat. Having the knowledge that Orlando hosted at least 3-4 bazaars a week was some consolation. At Lake Nona, I quickly browsed through the bazaar noting which trucks were attending the Apopka Food Truck Round Up the following week. That narrowed the selection to a few, which I could taste and truly relish the experience.

This brings me to Apopka Food Truck Round Up, hosted every first Thursday of the month at Kit Land Nelson Park. They have 11 resident trucks, plus 3 visiting trucks rotated on the basis of Facebook fan votes and an in house wait list.

Brain child of localities Alex and Joey, the Yum Yum Cupcake Truck was on top of my list this time around. Even though the cupcakes are made off site, they still maintain a stellar crew at the trucks; once I saw the long line, it made complete sense. They even had drinks and a printed menu being handed out to the waiting patrons. How thoughtful!

While waiting in line, I engaged in conversation with patrons around me to get some tips and personal opinions regarding the Yum Yum Cupcake Truck. After all, I was curious to comprehend the reason for the longest lines at the event. As one Apopka resident kindly quoted “these cupcakes are the moistest I have tasted and I just can’t make it like them”. That says it all, doesn’t it?

I asked this sweetest gentleman I have met, to make me a box of 4 of his favorites. (Discovered he was Joey, one of the 2 owners) He brought me Apple/Spice, Pumpkin, Chocolate/Mint, and Chocolate/Peanut Butter.

The very first bite I took was of the Apple Cupcake. Oh my!! It was ultra moist and brimming with flavors of apple and spice. I could not only appreciate the fragrant aroma but I tasted each ingredient that this wonderful creation was made with.

The rest of the Cupcakes exceeded my expectations too. Each of them brought their signature uniqueness and character to the mix; they weren’t too sweet, which for me personally was a welcome change from the sub-standard sugar filled American desserts.

One bite was all it took to realize Orlando’s craze for the Yum Yum Cupcake Truck; a big round of applause for these indulgent creations. With the large assortment of flavors, regardless of age, you will find one to satisfy your sweet cravings.
